The Administrator account is a type of user that appears on Windows operating systems to modify everything , without restrictions at any time. It has all the possible privileges to modify to taste, both system files and the settings of other user profiles.
This type of account has remained hidden in the latest versions of the operating system , as is the case with Windows 10, to avoid problems in case someone with little knowledge, or bad intentions, access them. Currently, it is something that is used especially when performing maintenance on computers ; when you need to install many programs, delete other installed or modify the permissions granted to other accounts.
Since it is something that is not visible, it is necessary to perform a specific procedure to make it accessible. In case you don’t know what to do, in this step-by-step guide we will explain how to activate the Administrator account in Windows 10 . The process in this operating system is not complicated, but it requires specific instructions. We will explain them all and, in addition, make clear what this hidden user is for .

Steps to enable the administrator user in Windows 10
In the newer versions of Windows, as we have already indicated, the administrator user is not available, it remains hidden for users who really want to use it to activate it. In this section, we will explain the steps to enable the administrator user in Windows 10.
1 – Sign in to Windows
Turn on your computer and connect with your regular user. Do it as usual, choosing the one that corresponds and entering the password or PIN if needed.
>
It is important that you keep in mind that, in order to proceed, the user you choose must have read and write privileges, be one of the administrators assigned to the system . If not, you will not be able to continue with the process to enable the hidden.
2 – Access the user account manager
Now, within the operating system, you have to press the key combination “Windows” + “R” . When you do that, a small window called “ Run ” will open, with which you can directly open programs, files and folders.
Enter in the field that has the following command blank, without quotes: “lusrmgr.msc” . Then a panel will open. You are already inside the Windows 10 user profile manager .
It is because the complement of this directive is not available since your system will be the version of Windows 10 Home.
- Press the Windows + R keys again
- Type “ control userpasswords2 ” (without quotes) and press Enter.
- The “ User Accounts ” window will open.
- In the “ Users ” tab all the users of the device appear .
- Check the users that appear and who (or who) is the administrator of the team.
- If the name of the account you are using appears and tells you that you are the administrator, you will have to restore the installation of Windows 10 since it is a bug.
3 – Activate the user “Administrator”
If everything is correct and once inside, if you have followed the steps so far, look in the left column and look for the “Users” or “Users” . Just click on it so that all its contents appear in the central part of the window, which are nothing more than the different system profiles.
Among them, you’ll see one called “Administrator” or “Administrator” . All you have to do now is double click on it. In this way, all its configuration parameters will appear and you can make the adjustments we are looking for.
Now, go to the “ General ” tab to see the main options. There, you just have to go to the box called “Account disabled” and uncheck it (if it was not checked, it means that you would already have the active administrator user in the system). The last thing you have to do is click on the “ Apply ” button, then click on “ Accept ” and you’re done.
If you wish, you can access the “ User Accounts ” panel to verify that the administrator is already among them. Within this, you just have to click on “Manage another account” to see a list with all the profiles. There you will find this one that you just validated.
How to activate the hidden administrator account in Windows 10 and what it is ?
As we have explained, the administrator is a profile that remains hidden in the W10 operating system. In the previous section we have explained a method, but here we are going to explain a more direct one that answers the question of how to enable the hidden administrator user in Windows 10.
- With the operating system started, press the key combination “Windows + R” to access the window to run programs.
- In the blank field, type without quotes: ” cmd.exe “.
- Within the command prompt you are in, enter the following command (again, without quotes): “Net user administrator / active: yes”.
- Now, you can assign a password to strengthen security. Within the same window, type: “control userpasswords2”.
- In the window that appears, select the administrator and click on the “Reset password …” button .
- Now you just have to type the new password you want for this profile.
Unlike normal accounts, or even those with special permissions, administrator accounts have no restrictions of any kind when handling the computer. They have all the necessary credentials to operate in the operating system without this impediment.
Thus, the profile “ admin ” is used to make any adjustments deemed necessary in Windows 10 or even to remove other profiles or control their privileges . It is the type of user that is needed when modifying important system values, internal settings or even deleting or modifying files that are in folders protected by the same computer.
It is used to have a “master key” with which to open all operating system doors. It allows more advanced users and professionals to make important changes, install or uninstall without any impediment or even make important modifications to the software. Everything, always, without Windows making notifications about what is going to be done or putting up barriers of any kind.
